Most of our clients take environmental issues and community involvement seriously. So do we – it’s not just coincidence that our company colour is green. As purchasing specialists, we believe that supply chain strength can be enhanced by good CSR performance.
Food Purchasing Green Sourcing
Location, location, location…we work hard to ensure our clients have the opportunity to buy produce as locally as possible and from top quality food suppliers who value ethical initiatives as highly as we do. We’ve even created our ‘Green Book Directory’ – a bible containing ‘green’ suppliers of food commodities throughout the UK – making it a breeze for all our clients to do some good.
Packaging and reducing waste going to landfill are great concerns to a number of our clients – which is why we have good contacts with an eco-friendly packaging company – just get in touch for more details.
Charity & Community
Since our inception, we have always been committed to supporting charitable causes. For many years we have sponsored Hospitality Action, our nominated industry charity. We also actively seek involvement in charitable and community based initiatives whenever possible and are dedicated to supporting our employees’ charitable endeavours.
Our charitable pledge:
- Continual support for a hospitality industry charity.
- Supporting an employee nominated charity of the year, to be reviewed on an annual basis.
- Offering each employee a volunteer day each year.
- Provide discretionary funds to sponsor employees who actively engage in charitable activities such as walks, runs, sports etc.
- Supporting local schools, colleges and community projects.
Each year our charitable tasks and initiatives may vary, but our commitment to worthy causes will not.
The Springboard Charity helps young people achieve their potential and nurtures unemployed people of any age into work. It helps alleviate poverty by supporting disadvantaged and underprivileged people into sustainable employment within hospitality, leisure and tourism.
Springboard’s work encourages, motivates, builds confidence, develops the skills required and mentors our beneficiaries to succeed in a career within hospitality, leisure and tourism. By making a contribution to the vital work of this Charity, you will directly help young people, safeguard their future employment and give back to an industry that provides enjoyment to so many.
One in four children in the UK currently live in poverty and are not benefiting from a consistently healthy and nutritious diet.
Whilst they may have access to school lunches, they are not guaranteed evening meals during term-time and meals during school holidays. Together with Meals & More club supporters and local delivery partners, Brakes aims to provide children between 2-18 years of age with tasty, nutritious weekday meals and access to an enrichment programme that will help lift them out of poverty.
Our head office in Warwickshire is the hub of all our operations and we like to make it a safe and pleasant environment for all our staff.
Recruitment, Training & Development
We value our staff and provide training as well as support for their working needs. We recognise talent and give financial rewards for acts of excellence – after all, its business sense to grow from within!
It goes without saying that all our staff are employed on a fair basis, regardless of race, gender, age, disability, marital status or religious belief.
We also recognise the importance of striking the right family/work balance, offering flexi-time hours, working from home and day-care arrangements.
